A friend of mine with a 80k 91 A4 Cp. has been told by his mechanic that a vibration he has is in the trans.and its starting to fail. He has a vibration when lightly accelerating around 55mph.
The mechanic has told him to dump the car. My friend seems to be in a hurry to do it before the trans fails. He has 100% faith in what his mechanic tells him. As far as I know the trans shifts fine and the car has no other problems. I have not driven it. Sorry for the lack of details but any suggestions or ideals for him would help.... Thanks

Yes, that's how it starts! If he did the work himself, I'd suggest filter/fluid change, and he might get some more time. But, if he trusts his mechanic, I'd probably save time and agravation and go for it.
