I had an oil pan leak, so I pull the pan and I use the time to inpsect everything and changed the gasket and started reinstalling the pan. After the pan had all the bolts in it, which is a pita because I've got one of those high capacity canton pans with "wings"...you have to hang the starter from the header (won't fit after the pan is on do to clearance issues between header and wing) and the bolts above the wings are a pita.... Well, I was checking the tightness on all the bolts when I broke, flush with the block, the very first bolt on the drivers side! I will try to drill and easy-out it tomorrow but as it is so hard to get to, I'm fearing that I may have to pull the engine. So, what was the recipe for the jonestown kool aid?
damn dude that sucks.. its usually always the way though.. finshing touches and you notice a bolt lying there and aren't real comfortable with the idea of where it may have went...lol
as long as it isn't bottomed out in the block it should be pretty easy and staright forard to remove especially since it was just installed. I would try a reverse drill bit before I tried anything else.. it will likely spin right out then just replace it.. I go to grade 8 on about all the hardware if I think it looks a little flimsy for its application.. alot harder to break a grade 8 then a grade 5 which is what alot of the lesser bolts are on GM's.
