Default Hi-Lo Beam lever

My 1993 Hi-Lo beam lever will not work. The turn signal, windshield wipers and cruise buttons work, but when I pull the lever back to turn on the hi beams the lever moves back but doesn't "click". Is it difulcult to replace the switch? Do I have to remove the steering wheel (air bag)? Where can I find a drawing of the assembly?

The silver phillips head screws on the left side are that ones that I believe hold the turn signal lever in. So yes, you'd have to take off the wheel to get it out.

the high beam is connected by a rod to a switch mounted down the column.

you still have to take everything apart as shown in that photo.

The switch is connected to a rod,to the lever. However you don't need to pull the wheel just to adjust it. It's on the side of the steering column next to the brake pedal. Just pull the bottom cover and look up and you'll see it! White, round thingey about the diameter of a quarter.

Not to hijack your thread, but

I have a 1996 that is missing parts for the headlight dimmer assy.
inside the steering column is a long metal rod that goes down and contacts the dimmer switch. if i push it by hand it toggles the switch and the hi/low lights work. the upper end of the rod is not attached to anything, and it is about 2 in. from the end of the rod to the turn signal arm assy. Something must attach to the rod and go up to the signal arm, so when you pull the signal arm back it pushes the metal rod down to hit the switch.

any idea what is missing, some adapter or something?
any info will help.

Default Had the same problem this week

I had the same problem this week with the high beam. It would only work with the steering wheel in the uppermost position. I removed the side covers near the turn signal lever and found that there is a plastic peice that connects the lever to the metal wire that works the dimmers was out of position. I put it back and works fine. With no parts replaced. Look on the floor for the part when you remove the side cover. Good luck.
