Any suggestions for cams for a 91 L-98 Car is street driven with the following mods. Cold air intake, 58 mm throttle body, Large tube runners, Hookers long tube super comps with side exhauset, B&M shift improver, 3:73 gears, underdrive pulley.. Don't mind a slight lope. Engine runs out of HP at about 4500 rpm on dyno. Thanks for any input, Duddy
I just installed the GM ZZ4 Cam. Almost identical specs as the TPIS ZZ9 Cam and about half the price.
Used that cam with the entire ZZ4 valve train and an Accel base. Car is stronger than ever, didn't lose any low end it runs perfectly with the stock chip.
these are two good choices. add to that the LPE 211 which is very similar to the zz9. however none of these cams is going to stop your HP from falling off where it does. that is a function of the long runner intake.
You can get more than 4500 out of a well ported head, intake and LTR setup with good exhaust. Your heads will limit you, but the stock cam is a torquer. You will need programming for a MAP car with a cam. Be careful about overcamming it. You may want to consider a new torque converter with the cam swap.
