Default P1371 is Opti?

Having trouble with my '96 LT4. Scanned it myself and got P1371. Did a search here and it looks to be Opti but I wanted a few more opinions. Car hesitated like twice on seperate days. Then died and would not restart last night. Towed it home and tried it today and it started right up. Opti was dealer replaced 11 months and 8,000mi ago. Doubt the dealer will cover another opti so I'll be doing it myself. Hate anything fluid related like removing the water pump though. Hoping it's ICM but probably not, right? Thanks guys.

Default opti problems

im installing headers on my lt4 and im having problems with msd wires fitting. i had aleak on both of the vacuum lines to the opti, and my stock plug wires were shot. i also had stock sparkplugs.i have 68000 miles. check for a bad coil wire, and make sure you keep the opti dry. the bad opti vacuum lines i had did not remove the moisture. good luck

Hmmm, Had a vacuum code last week but it went away when battery died last night while trying to restart it. P1441 I think. Wonder if a vacuum problem is mucking up my Opti? Maybe why it's bad after 8,000mi?

P1371 is your opti going bad. Had the same code a few months ago, which led to a new opti. Good luck.

Pulled three more codes today and posted them here to see if they are all opti, or maybe my ECM or something. P0100, P0102, P0372, and the same P1371. P0372 I think is Opti. Opti was dealer replaced 11 months and 8000mi ago. Called them today and they said it was warranteed for 12mo and 12,000mi! So as soon as I know what the other two codes mean I'll tow it to the dealer, as long as they will cover the repair that is. So it may not be all bad.

I love my C4 but I'm so sick of Opti-crap related nonsense. I had a '94 Z28 with the LT1 and replaced the Opti myself about 9mo before moving up to the 'Vette. Now I need two more replacements in a year? I'm feeling a little frustrated and may do something stupid...Like buy a Lincoln LS and ditching all vehicles that use the Opti-spark. Of course only until I can afford a C6! Thanks for your help bro!

I've got a buddy with a LT1 Trans AM with the original Opti in the car at 230,000 miles. I guess some are good and some aren't. Opti's are a PITA for sure.

Yes! I just pulled those exact 4 codes off the car today. I'm hoping I do not have to replace the opti again
