Default ARP main studs.. what for windage tray?

just was wondering what you guys running ARP main studs in built engines are doing for windage trays.. I am running into trouble aerating the oil and at higher revs my oil pressure starts going backwards to 20 psi.. I found in the engine mod section that this is a common problem on cars which the factory windage tray was removed. any help appreciated!

I may be wrong but I thought ARP made studs for the stock tray. I just installed ARP main studs in the most recent build. But it wasn't an issue for me because I installed a Canton road race pan at the same time, and you don't use the windage tray with it.

have a part number for the canton pan? sounds like aviable solution. is the oil level just lower then the crankshaft? I am guessing you still get your oil capacity this way but don't have to worry about the crank dipping into the oil in the back under acceleration. thanks in advance.. oh and what was the price tage and are there any fitment issues with this pan?

Yes, the level's lower. At the recommended 6 1/2 qt. fill for the LT1 (with factory size filter) full is just barely above the 'add' mark. I think the price from Canton was about $275 but they can be bought elsewhere for less. They pop up in the F/S section used fairly frequently, that's where I got mine. It fits nicely and there are no clearance problems with my SW headers or anything else. I can't recall the exact part# offhand but it's the same pan for all one piece rear seal C4s. Make sure and get their pick-up with it.

Why was the factory windage tray removed at all. Is this a stroker? If so the ARP studs are not long enough for the factory tray to clear the rods.

A friend of mine bought the same tray studs, only 1/4" longer and then beat out the tray just a bit and all was well. Factory oil pan and factory windage tray on his 383.

The BFH is a most useful tool.
