I put a Stewart water pump on my '91 L98 3 1/2 years ago thinking I had bought something better than OEM. This pump has just failed with only 8,000 miles on it .
So now that I am prematurely back in the water pump market ..........any thoughts on the best higher performance pump than OEM would be appreciated.
I am considering an Edelbrock pump now but would like to know if you guys have any recomendations.
The '91 L98 automatic trans coupe is basically stock with only a chip /K&N filter ,open breather box and 24# injectors. I have 1.6 roller tip rockers going on shortly as well.

I think the Stewart failure was a fluke. I've used the Stewart pumps on my race cars since they started supplying the NASCAR builders. FYI, I have no personal interest in Stewart.

Maybe the fact that the car was not used for the last 2 years , but started regularly ( once a month) has something to do with it. Coolant was fresh when stored and properly mixed.
Not sure if it's a fluke or not ,but it's not working well and needs a replacement. Just wondering if there is anything else good out there besides the Edelbrock Victor series.

If you install a Stewart, remove and reseal the backing plate. Mine leaked straight outta the box. (well, 4 hours after removing it from the box and installing it.)
