Which sensor? The engine computer sensor is on the front of the intake where you're talking about.
The guage sending unit is on the drivers side head between 1 and 3 cylinders.
The engine sensor is tricky to get to. You'll probably have to remove the MAF and duct, and smog diverter valves at the very least to get a large deep socket on there. It's next to the TB hose, You don't need to remove the TB hose. But you'll lose coolant anyways, so if it gets in your way remove it anyways.
You should do the TB coolant bypass while you're in there. Hook up a hose directly from the intake front to the heater core line. Then you'll never have to disturb the coolant system when removing the TB.
the coolant sensor is fine He's not replacing it... The plug on the sensor was broken so he bought an new one and now can't get it to plug in... Any help there??? He just replace the TB bypass... and doesn't want to have to remove it... Plus it's rather dificult to remove...
I bought a new Coolant Temperature Sensor Connector because the original one was broken and wouldnt stay connected anymore. I bought it at NAPA, part #TSC200. Everywhere else that i've looked carries the exact same one. The connector will not fit, its longer than the original.
The only way I think it will work is if I shave off the end so that the tab on top will slide onto the sensor. Does anyone else have experience with this?

This one?
Does it not plug in, or is the plastic plug too big and gets in the way of other stuff in that tight space? Worst case, you could always swap the new connector with your intake air temp connector, although that one is a tight space as well. You can also find these readily in the local junkyard on any injected GM car near your year.
Yes its exactly the one in the bottom pic. I got it to fit now though. I took the green plug out of the bottom and slid the wires out, cut the plastic part down to match the original, put it back together and it plugged right in. Code 14 is gone, but i'm still getting a code 15 for some reason. Does this have anything to do with the timing being off?
One way to find out is to go to a CarQuest parts store if you have one. They have both the sensor and the harness as a kit. That site on ebay has never steered me wrong on sensors or a harness that I needed.
