Well, i just recently go done doing a Longtube headers/3"mandrel exhaust/x pipe/ 2 chambers exhaust.
Now i have developed a couple different lifter taps in the motor, i drive with a pretty heavy foot but wonder if my new exhaust has anything to do with it...???
what should i replace them with. I plan on doing a Heads/Cam package in a few months.
if i put stock Roller lifters back in will this happen again? do i need to upgrade? i want to solve the problem and prevent it from happening again. so what do i do?

Yes. And No. What you are hearing is an exhaust leak or two. They can sound EXACTLY like a loose tappet. Take a piece of heater hose and stick it to your ear. Play the other end of the hose around the header gasket at each of the exhaust posts. You may have to have your lovely assistant rev the engine to find the leaks. The valve train is OK.
I agree with CFI. Going from exhaust manifolds to headers will increase the amount of 'engine noise' you can hear from under the hood. Headers can give off a 'tingy' sound when you crack the throttle and then let off. If you think you are hearing one or two very prominent, distinct noises, then you probably have an exhaust leak to coincide with your recent exhaust mods.
Do as CFI said. Also make sure all the header bolts are tight, as well as the spark plugs. Check to make sure the headers are not hitting on anything in the car. You may have to check each head/header port from underneath the car if you don't find a leak on the top-side.
You can also use a popsicle stick wrapped loosely with a piece of paper to 'feel' for an exhaust leak.

Done, the bolts were kinda loose for the headers, but it still sounds like the valvetrain, which is what 3 different people have said- all very good corvette/fbod. mechs.-
so what are a good matching set of lifters, 1.6RR's & springs that will work for a 236/242@050lift cam with stage two ported heads, ported intake, LT headers/3" mandrel to flowmaster 2 chmbrs.
and if im doing all that, what would be a good oil pump, oil pan. and lubrication set up to ensure i wont get oil starvation on a quick revving LT4 with a SMFW clutch conversion and 4.10's
I'm going through the same thing as I put on the LTs 2 months ago. Was under the car tonight with it runningg and found a couple small leaks to work on. Remember to retighten the header bolts a few times after several heat cycles.
