Default Pulled OUT OPTI LT4

Question, first thank you for all that gave me instructions on how to remove my opti on my LT4 1996 6 speed. The balancer I thought would be a big problem. After I soaked it with Blaster, the bolts and shaft, I undid the bolts and pulled it off with my hands.

The old opti sounds, honestly like a coffee grinder when you spin it where the new one is obviously smooth and quiet. QUESTION. the new GM opti has two rubber O rings on it and the opti that came out has the groves, but no O rings, i checked inside the cam where the short shaft fits in and there not there hidding, so what is up with that, I wonder if they fit when you install the new opti, which I have not done yet and the installer before and I know it had a pump at 43K left them off because he could not get them to go inside the cam with the driveshaft.. QUESTION 2 the new GM water pump has an O ring at the base of the water pump, splin, drive shaft and the one I pulled out has the grove but no O ring either, so what's up with all these missing O rings. Any input is appreciated. Bob in Stockton, CA

Sounds like you hit the nail on the head...the previous installer didn't put them on. I'm surprised you didn't have oil leaking down the front of your motor. Good catch, I missed the water pump o-ring the first time I did it.Robert
