Default Replacing stock air box

Hi,

I want to change the stock air box in my 1995 C4. Any opinions as to which modification offers the most bang for the buck?

Thanks, Paul

For the air box, no modification is probably the best modification. If your engine is stock, or near-stock, the open lid/K&N filter scenario that's popular here is a big waste of money, and will only net you one thing --- a much dirtier filter that needs cleaned often. No extra sotp power, nothing else.

There are more expensive choices such as cold air induction, but I can't comment on those.

I'd leave your setup the way it is.

Actually, I am looking to upgrade to a ram air or cold air unit.

In response to your statement, on the L-98 this may be true, but on the LT-1 the Breathless style like you describe, seem to work. Using the breathless unit, 3000 converter, 3.73 gears and drag radials my buddy ran 12.2 @ 112 consistently and drove 100 miles each way to the track on his 96 auto coupe.

pjd822, the Breathless seems to be the easiest, and best "cost factor" for your 95. The same guy who ran the 12.2's put on the SLP unit to make the filter replacement easier, but lost .1 on his ET. After removing the SLP unit and putting the Breathless back on he was back at his "old" performance level.
