Default Controlling The Temp - Almost

I thought I had found the answer to controlling the coolant temp in a LT1 C4 by direct wiring the fan relays to a toggle swith in the cockpit.
It worked great for a couple of months. As the temp increased, I could flip the switch(s) and bring the temp down without turning on the a/c.
Yesterday I see "LO" on the display and the engines shuts down. Code 77 & 78 are displayed.
I disconnected the wires from the solenoids and everything is fine again, execpt I no longer have manual control over the fans.
I sure would like to have manual control of the fans again, but I don't want to screw up the electronics.
Any ideas on direct wiring the relays without screwing up anything else?

I'd suggest that you consider reprogramming your fan-on/off settings so that the ECM will automatically kick the fans on at whatever temperature you want. I find this to be a much better solution than manual switching.
