Default Could this Blower work for me?

I have a 87 with only exhaust and minor mods.

Could this Blower work on my car?

Its a used Paxron Sn89 with plumbing and MAF. Seller says that he dont know if it need a freshin up, since it feels tight when turned.
But i have heard thats a tight fell on the old paxtons is common too.

Could these parts be used on 87 TPI vette? And what others parts do I need?

regards

The hard part is not the head unit, it's the mounting of it, and the accessory relocation. Even if that Paxton was free, you're still looking at a $4,000 minimum investment to make it work, and install all the supporting mods.

People will tell you that you can do it for less, but I really doubt it. The odds and ends will nickel and dime you to death on a forced induction project.

Good luck, with what ever you decide to do!

To answer your question directly, yes, that supercharger setup will work with your '87.

However, if all you're getting is what's pictured above, then it may not be worth your time/money/effort. There are a lot more components (brackets, bolts, spacers, air filter, ECM chip, alternator relocation harness, hood prop-rod relocation brackets, water injection system components, modified driver's side wheel well, etc...) that you'll need in order to complete the installation of that blower. Some parts are readily available from BlowerWorks (www.blowerworks.net), while the parts that aren't you'll either have to fabricate yourself or search places like eBay for.

And that's not taking into account whether the blower itself needs a rebuild. If you're mechanically competant, rebuilding these blowers is actually quite easy (there's not much to them) and parts are available from Paradise Wheels in California (they own all the rights to the old ball-drive Paxton superchargers). However, if you'd rather send it to Paradise Wheels for a rebuild, you'll looking at about $750~$800 just for a basic rebuild!

Just for comparison purposes, I purchased an (almost) complete SN89 Paxton supercharger kit for my '89 Corvette off a guy for $300. The setup I bought is missing a few components and the supercharger itself needs a rebuild. But for the price, it was a steal! I will be rebuilding the supercharger myself, and whatever remaining components I need I will either fabricate myself or search eBay for (if I can't buy them new from either BlowerWorks or Paradise Wheels).

Below is a link to a small site I set up with pictures of the kit I bought. It will give you a better idea of the parts you'll needed (and remember, there are still items missing from my kit!):

Good luck with your decision.
