Much difference? Power? Sound? Advantages/disadvantages against h or x pipe? Considering I'm also going to run Dynomax Bullet mufflers in place of the stock ones.
i would consider changing the mufflers to the bullets first.if it is'nt loud enough you can ditch the resonater.in that case i would consider an x-pipe instead of straight pipe.if you still have your cats it probably won't be too loud.
I have a 94 that I installed Dynamax mufflers on and there was not
enough change in exhaust note to really tell the difference. Went back and removed the resonators and difference was night and day in sound and performance. I could have probably just removed the resonators to start with and been ahead of the game. I now had a nice deep sound that I liked and a very annoying done from about 40 to 65 mph. Next step was headers and a X pipe. The X pipe killed the drone and was probably the best thing I did. Recommend that the X pipe be installed right where the exhaust bends to go into the tunnel and be at least the same diameter as your exhaust pipes. Also, if you replace your header pipes, get the front O2 senors locations placed on the inside of the pipes pointing towards the motor. This will save you alot of frustration down the road as they can be a real pain to change in thier current position.

I didnt notice any difference in power but im sure it makes it louder with no resinator. I put flowmasters, H pipe and had the resonator replaced with straight pipe.
At one time I had straight pipes with Corsa exhaust with the resonator cut out and it was loud and some backfire at times and a lot of rumble when you let off the gas. The x pipe fixed those issues!
I get tons of popping and backfires during high rpm engine braking. If the x pipe stops it or quiets that popping down, it'd be worth it to me. However, I'm not running any mufflers at this time.

Just my nickels worth.

Where does one get an X pipe (Stainless, if possible) for a '96 that will fit a 2.5" system?
