Default Should I replace the T. V. cable on my trans?

I prefer to set the cable a bit tighter (pushed back a few clicks towards the rear of the car) from the specified setting. The only problem with setting it tight is that it doesn't allow the throttle body blades to open up all the way. I'm wondering if these tv cables stretch and should sometimes be replaced. Then maybe the factory recomended setting would provide crisper shifts and allow the throttle body blades to open up all the way. Its an 86. 60K. No shift kit. Trans seems to be in good shape. What do you think?

The TV cable shouldn't keep the throttle blades from opening, it's designed to ratchet forward and readjust when its pulled past maximum extension.
