Default Security System Problem

I'm having a problem with my security system, every time I put the fuse in.. the security alarm won't stop going off. I'm trying to pass inspection and the horn won't work without that fuse! Anyone know what I can do?

First, let us know what year. I'm assuming 1984 from your profile. What fuse are you talking about? I got this wrong the other day, because I forgot '84 and '85 were different, but I'm pretty sure that on the '84, the 10amp fuse behind the DIC is for the Theft Deterrent System only. With it out, the Theft Deterrent System is deactivated, but the horn should still work as long as the CTSY/CLK fuse in the Fuse Panel is in. On the '84 and '85, you can also disconnect the Theft Deterrant Module near the ECM to deactivate the system.

In the long term though, I'd suggest you follow the troubleshooting guide and fix the problem. Even if you have no worries about theft, it's nice to have everything working as it should.
