I finally got the time to install the 3" B&B Tri-Flow exhaust on my 93 Auto LT1. I started at noon with the car on jack stands and the EM Longtubes installed. I hung the exhaust and right from there problems started. The front left hanger mount must be in the wrong place because it caused the spring to sit on the pipe, the resonator was offset to the left, both rear pipes coming out of the resonator that go to the mufflers were hitting the rear and suspension, and the mufflers were up against the body. I fabbed up a hanger mount extension and was able to set most of it in place. I then measured and cut two pipes to join the headers to the cat back. I then expanded them and test fitted everything. It looked good so my dad welded them up for me.
I then hung the whole thing and nothing seemed to line up. I could get the right muffler perfect along with the rest of the exhaust but then the left muffler would be really crooked and that pipe would be up against the rear. In the end I had a choice of having mufflers up against the bumper or pipes on the rear.
Since it was getting close to midnight, I ended up leaving it with the pipes on the bumper and as much clearance as I could get but it still isn't enough. I took the car for a ride and yes it sounds good and feels quicker with the headers and exhaust but something rub underneath.
Anyone have any tips or ideas on how to line this thing up. I know that the exhaust is a .25" bigger than stock but I also thought it was supposed to be a "bolt on" that can be done in 3 hours. If I'm just stupid and missing something let me know because this is bugging the he!! out of me.
I have a hunch that the B&B systems are not aligned properly from the factory. I've adjusted mine 5x already and have booked another day at the exhaust shop to try and realign them again. My tips are low and Im going to drill new holes in the brackets to raise them. problem is when i try that i know they will be resting on the diff again so I'll need to lower it again.
I'm going to call B&B and bitch monday. I suggest you do the same. If i can't get them to line up soon Ill be a Corsa customer.

Had I bought the system new, it would have been boxed up to be sent back already. I bought it almost new with just dyno time because the person thought it was too loud. I was thinking about the Corsa too, but its too quiet for my taste.
Any others with experiences, ideas, tips, tricks and etc?
Mine lined up pretty easily, just the connection from the headers to the front of the system was a bit of a pain. Yea, it's a little loud with the 396 and no cats.
I don't have a good picture of that area, but there really isn't any problem there. The two pipes go under the differental before they turn out. The closest clearance issue I have is around the tranny.
Like I said dave, I had to buy 4 new stainless springs shorter thanstock for the exhaust hanger brackets. For the mufflers, I welded the hanger holes shut and drilled newer holes higher up on the bracket to lower the muffler tips.

I have thought about the shorter springs but they would not help me. They would bring the exhaust up higher and in turn I would have even less clearance. Right now I have limited clearance by the rear and with shorter springs it would be even worse.
Drilling new holes in the muffler hangers may help with the muffler alignment. Did you guys bolt them on straight before mounting the mufflers or did you use that slack as a way of adjustment?
I may just remove the system and try reinstalling it fresh. I figured the headers would have been a bitch to install and the exhaust easy, but it was the exact opposite.
