Transmission question
I am rebuilding my LT1 and wanted to know if I should go ahead and have the tranny looked at. It is an automatic with about 130k on it. I have not had any problems with it but since I do not want any I thought this might be a good time to check it out. What kind of stuff should I look for to tell the tranny guy.

If you're going to rebuild the motor you might as well have the tranny rebuilt. I certainly wouldn't match a tranny with 130k up to a new motor. Shouldn't run you more than a few hundred bucks and save you from having to pull it out later.

Even though I build my own transmissions, I would not fix mine unless it was broken. The late model units (94-96) seem to last much longer than the non electronic versions. No tv system or governor to cause problems.
