I had the same problem. It turned out to be 4 of the 8 orginal injectors were bad.

Air, fuel, spark and compression. You need all of them in the right amount, at the right time. What is missing, or inadequate? Check the trouble shooting charts in your FSM. Otherwise I would start with checking the fuel pressure.

Is it possible you put the fuel filter with the arrow pointing toward the rear?

A fuel pressure check is a good first place to start. If you have an 88, the open your bible, (FSM) to the book of "Driveability and Emmissions" page 6E3-1, and read from the letters of Paul to the Corinthians, i.e. "Section B - Symptoms".

So code "12" flashed 3 times, right? Then code "22" flashed... three times? What came after the third "22"? With the NEW information on the codes, skip my advice on checking the fuel pressure, first. Go straight to the FSM and follow the trouble shooting chart for code 22, and any other codes that followed the "22".

At the risk of repeating myself, "What came after the third "22"?".

If "need to by and fsm" means that you have to purchase a Factory Service Manual, than by all means, do. Make sure it is the FACTORY manual published by Helm Inc, as per the links both Mike_88Z51 and I provided. A generic manual, such as from Chilton, Haynes, or any others won't have the trouble shooting charts you are going to so badly need.

A code 22 is Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) - signal voltage low. You need to check for a defective TPS sensor or corrosion in the TPS circuit. It could be a simple loose wire giong into the TPS, some corrosion in the TPS connetors, or a loose TPS adjustment screw. You'll need a multi-meter to measure voltage in the 0-10v range and something to loosen the TPS sensor on the side of the throttle body.

As CFI-EFI says, having a Helms FSM would allow you to go directly to the Code 22 troubleshooting chart so you want to buy one as soon as possible. Sometmes they can be had used on eBay or the CF For Sale Forum at a significant savings. Agent 86 has PDF copies of many manual pages. He may have the chart you need in a downloadable file.
