I think whenever one of these cars is for sale for >$20,000 it's a great deal for the buyer, high miles or not. Paint and maintenance is going to be unavoidable somewhere down the road whether it is a garage queen or a pavement king. We don't buy these cars to pinch pennies, if we do, we should sell them and by Hondas.
And that is truely my delma. I have at least 5-6 CE or regular LT4's with milage from 19K-56K with asking prices from $16.5-20K which are no doubt better buys........
I wouldn't call $20k on a LT4 a great buy right now....a lower-mid mileage GS? sure. But for a normal LT4 at 20k seems crazy to me. Id get a '00 50k mile C5 FRC first.
Opps..somebody got owned. That race car is badass.
Jeff, ol Greg isn't too swift when it comes to these internet debates. Last time he said I hadn't accomplished anything significant in my life.... until he found out that I save lives for a living and them made no more comments to me after that. Loser. He also said Callaways always bring less money than a GS which is funny b/c I know of a 91 Aero-vert that sold for $60k last week....thats ummm 20k more than the GS at Carlisle??
I thought you were long gone. You don't even have a Corvette so what are you doing back over here? I didn't respond the last time because it isn't worth the effort to engage whiners like you. You don't have the people skills to be an EMT. You might be an ambulance driver but no more than that. If you are interested in learning to be an EMT you should check yourself into the Dr. Phil Forum and get an education. Weren't your forum priviliges revoked anyway because of not having a Corvette? I thought they did because you don't know what you are talking about and I don't think anyone would take anything you say seriously anyway.
What was you said again, the only way you can get power out of a LT4 is to start over with a new motor?
Not real sure if I agree with that statment. In bone stock configuration my LT4 car dynoed 301 rwhp. With just basic induction, long tube headers and more efficient exhaust, the car made 331 rwhp. A set of GTP LT4 ported heads brought it up to 363 rwhp.
For all practical purposes the car contained 100% orgional parts (except for porting - still stock valves) and 363 rwhp is WAY over 400 hp at the flywheel with no reliability issues.
Now over 480 rwhp but forget about having a single stock part in the engine. Got all the dyno sheets to prove it.
You guys believe that? He seems very angry for some reason. If you were hurt and called for help what would you do if this guy pulled up to work on you? I don't know about you but I feel fortunate to be 500 miles away from him. Let's go back to discussing Corvettes now please and maybe the troublemakers will be bored and go bother a different thread.
Our current NASCAR SB-2 head will bolt right on and I could get a cam made for it so I am revising my estimate to over 800 if the cylinder walls don't split and we can keep the main webs in it. No problem though if you will permit me to replace the block too.
I think the Callaways and ZR-1s are great cars, especially the cars that are factory original.
Here's what you wrote in the last thread.

I'm not sure Callaway should be on the list. They are not factory original GM engineered cars. They were modified outside the plant by non-GM employees with the addition of a lagging non-GM turbocharger kit that makes the car into a Porsche.
Who do you believe? Greg Gore today or Greg Gore 2 months ago....

I have already owned a 98 torch red C5 and they are nice cars. I guess I'm looking for something unique and that's what a GS is.
Above $$ are asking prices. One that is listing at $20k is a CE that has 16k miles.
I guess I know that the GS is over priced, but I guess uniqueness comes with a price tag that sometimes does not make a lot of financial sense. Though a very few cars make any financial sense

Very cool. I agree about the C5. They are great cars but don't stir my blood like a high hp C4, a better daily driver but not as much fun on the weekends.
Not sure what your budget is but there is GS Vert w/ 44k miles listed in the for sale forum for 25k.
Budget is really really dependent on the car, would like to stay under 20k so I have budget money for 4:10 gears longtube headers and Hot cam, but it really depends on the car.
Converts don't really float my boat for some reason
Sorry, I know you want us to believe you are an EMT but a real EMT wouldn't act as juvinile as you do. You seem to want to spend a lot of time on the keyboard trying to bust up chocolate Easter bunnies but I think you are just acting out of a frustrated miserable existance. You are probably a little disappointed that you never were successful at anything and when the Corvette had to go away it just poured gas on the fire.
Folks...can we take up a little collection to get Josh Henderson in Orlando another Corvette? He's feeling a little sorry for himself and since he has no Corvette at the moment he spends his time pissing in our Corn Flakes.

It's going to cost you about $5000.00 to have GS repainted. If you need new bumpers the front one runs 400 and the rear one can be had for 550 new. The stripe kit can be bought from the grandsportregistry.com at a discount but the white in the stripe doesn't match. It has a yellow tint that isn't very noticeable.
I'd get it between 14 - 16 if that's what you want (a skunk) then it's worth it.
OTOH you might want to shop a bit harder for a better cond. or lower mile GS.
You can sink a lot of money into a 96 - ask me how I know. Just put a fuel pump in today - pretty ez job $125 parts (with trade disc.) my labor 2 hrs.
But hey it's my fun time, now gotta go test & see how it stands up to the 6300 redline.
I have a BMW that costs me around $200 everytime I get an oil change, as something constantly breaks on it. Though I wouldn't trade it in for any other car, well maybe an M5
If they would do 14K I would do it in a heart beat. I would love to find a lower miled one in the range of 50-75k, but it seems that the only ones out there are low mile examples in the $29-35K price range.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
