Default Door ajar sensor

The door ajar sensor on the drivers side of my C4 has intermittent operation. I have replaced the sensor, and I still see the same behavior. It might correctly detect that door has opened 1 out of every 15 times. The worst part about this problem is that when I exit the car, the radio still stays on. Anyone have an idea what the problem could be?

Have you tried to push the sensor in after exiting the car to see if the radio will turn off? Since you state you have replaced it (new one I assume) my guess would be the connection or the circuit.

I have this problem on my 95. If I close the door and drive the lights will stay on inside, like the sensor is not pushed in all the way. I haven't tried replacing it and used a rubber grommet on it to make sure it stay in when the door is closed. Just a temporary fix for now.

is the switch mechanically moving in and out or is it binding?

I put graphite in the switches for lubrication when they stick without electrically affecting its operation

Yeah the switch is working perfectly. I just found the troubleshooting chart after an hour of searching the manuals, and it looks like the culprit could be the DAB (delayed accessory bus) relay. The problem now, the manual doesn't give a clue where this relay is located.

On a 95 it's located behind the left hand I/P, left of the steering column.

Guessing yours is the same.
