So does anyone want to guess how much of a gain will be had from the LT4 intake, heads, TB, and cam on a mostly stock LT1? What about just the new intake? Will they be powder coated? How much longer before the intake will be released?

Actually the OEM LT1 intake can be welded & ported to work w/ LT4 type heads. I would be very surprised if this intake made any more power than OEM. The "Air Gap" reduces the already lacking plenum volume. If you ask me Edelbrock really missed the mark with this one...I think there is a good size market for decently priced cast bolt-on performance (not factory repacement) LTx intake. Look at what the Ford 5.0 guys have to choose from.

Apparantly the gains, if any, would come from a cooler, denser air going into the cylinder...
Hope they provide some kind of before/after dyno.....
I also wonder if they match the ...000777 LT4 intake gasket....which is what a lot of us have had our heads port matched to..
someone told me edelbrock made the LT1/LT4 intake for GM. Anyone know this to be fact?
I heard Edlebrock was the supplier for the 96.................with the 10 year rule that GM has for suppling parts it only would make sense that Edelbrock would come out with it
The only reason why the original manifold died back in the mid 90's was not from the lack of demands or some backdoor agreement with GM, but because they could not successfully cast the intakes on a repeated basis. It was a manufacturing failure.
Today we have wonderful 3-D CAD systems being used with stereolithography to work out the manufacturing bugs before the components are even cast.
The problem with the original LT1 or LT4 intakes is not with the volume flow, bit it's short runners. TPI we too long, Gen II were to short and Gen III were just right. Just like Goldilock and the 3 bears.
The lack of runners hurt the low and mid range torque. Any apprecible increase can easily add another 45 to 55 ft-# of torque between 3200-4200 rpm, while not losing out in the HP category till 5300-5700 rpm.
The instructions have been out for over a year and I called them back in Feb of this year and they stated the intake was still under development; my guess is it will never be built. There was a pretty long post on this back several months ago and a link to the same sheet posted here was available then. I hope it does get built but am not holding my breath
It is advertised in a perf. mag. that I just picked up yesterday. One for the LT1 and one for the LT4. It's in GM High Tech Performance.

Thats good news. Hopefully they would not pay for advertising if it was not going to happen. Although I have seen other companies do that with other products that were canceled.
if someone does put this on, i'd be very curious what gains if any this has over stock. for $138 it sounds like a good peice to put on for not much money.
