Default Zr-1 Rims

I have a set of Zr-1 rims. I believe them to be the actual rims... thus brings me to this post.

1. How can I check to be sure they are 100% true ZR-1 rims?

2. Will they fit my '88 convertible?

3. The inside rim numbers read 17.2/9.5/56.

(I have a full set 17x9.5 17x 11, just only one at my current location.)

From what I've found of the ZR-1 rims are mostly all reproductions, and very limited if any facts about the real ones.

If they are true ZR-1 rims, will they fit? will I need spacers? What should I expect?

Any and all help will be truely appreciated.

Car currently has 16" wires with knock offs...

If they are real ZR-1 wheels, they should have the "GM" logo and a part number inside the wheel in the recesses of the spokes.

"Real" rear ZR-1 wheels (17x11) will stick out beyond the fenderwells of the 88. The ZR-1's were wider at the rear facia by 3" so figure on the rear wheel sticking out by 3/4 or so on standard C4's. The offset on the rear ZR-1 wheel is 36.5mm.

You could use the 96 Grand Sport fender flares if they do stick out too far. The front 17x9.5 wheel will fit with no problems.

If they are true ZR1 rims, then the front fits no question. You say it has 56mm written in the inside, so that one isnt a problem.

The rear is different however, a true ZR1 rim fits 84-87 without a problem, but wont fit an 88-96 correctly. You'll need a 11" rear rim with a 50mm offset, not the ZR1's 36.5mm offset.

I don't see the "GM" logo, so... now to figure out what i have?

This is whats in the rest of the spokes.

"17.2/9.5/56"

"10214046 AFR"

"LM? or UM? JPN"

"1"

then the last one has two circles with lines thru them and a couple small numbers inside... eyes are not that good tonight.

I'll go look at the rears tomorrow or early this week

any ideas?

Btw, thanks for the quick responses

Where are you located? It appears your 9.5 wheel is indeed a genuine GM wheel. The rears would have 10214047 cast on the back side. What condition are your wheels in? If per chance your rears are not a match I might be interested in the 9.5's if you don't use them. I've got a couple sets of 11's and need 2 9.5's to complete a set.

Thanks, Dave

BTW it will NOT have a GM brand anywhere but on the outside painted surface the second window "clockwise" from the valve stem you will see a raised "trademark". I can assure you it's genuine!
