Default Scan Tool

Howdy folks. I have a 94 MN6 coupe. What scanners can I use to link up to the ECM? The car has (as I'm sure you know) the OBDII connection port, but is still OBDI. I have an OBDII scan tool, but it simply won't connect. Any recommendations as to what route to go?? I don't have a laptop right now. What other options are available?

Thanks in advance

I just purchased Turbo-Link for my OBD1 system. It works grrreat with Windows and cost me $279. Here is the website: http://www.turbo-link.com/

Note on the website there is a demo for downloading. I recommend you review the demo.

I missed the words "I don't have a laptop right now" and Turbo-Link needs a laptop. First mistake this morning :-(

hey, it's early. Thanks for trying to help.

I have an OBD-II scan tool that I used with my last car. It will turn on when plugged into the DLC, it just won't communicate.

From what little I know about the OBDII systems, it is very different from the OBDI units. Have you considered calling the supplier of you current system and see what you can buy to make it compatable with what you have? Just a thought Another thought for you.....post this in the Tech Section as not too many people hang out in the Scan & Tune. I am sure you will get some "hits" there.

I have an Autoxray 6000 that is supposed to work on both OBDII and OBDI cars, so far it works very well on all OBDII cars tried, results on my 93 Vette have been less impressive. To their credit customer service has been trying to resolve my problems. They are sending me a replacement scan tool this coming week, I will report my results.
The tool comes with cables to fit older ALDL connectors, plus Ford and Chrysler and of course the new OBDII so it may work for you. Best price I've seen recently is about $375
The Tech1 and Tech 2 tools used by the dealers are even better and Snap-on and OTC have versions as well, all are more money.
