Is it possible to use/convert a newer technology (LT/LS style) MAF sensor on the older TPI cars (1985-1989)? Ours is a 1988 Corvette. Has anyone done this successfully or heard of anyone making a better more durable (maybe more accurate) one than the stock TPI style?
I personally am starting to hate on the 86-89 MAF cars. I'd like to one day convert to a late LT1 OBD1 MAF or even speed density. But then again I don't know how accurate both of them would be on an originally equipped MAF car...
I believe the sensor signal is different between TPI and LTX MAF sensors as related to the ECM processing, in addition to the wiring differences. I myself would love to be able to use a larger MAF body on a TPI engine, rather than converting to SD. MAF is a lot more mod-tolerant, and consequently most guys stay with it.
