Yesterday, for the first time since buying my '94 LT 1, automatic coupe I opened her up twice on back roads from a rolling start. The first time I floored it and let off at 88mph. A noticeable odor of burning rubber with ?? in it happened while accelerating and the brakes felt like "steel on steel" when I used them. About 8-9 miles later on another straight road I took her to 100mph. The smell came back and I could only briefly and lightly touch the brakes: that steel on steel feel came back. The car did not pull or veer and that "feel" seemed to come from all over. The car has Mich. Pilot Sports in gr8 shape that feel balanced. Prior to this I probably hadn't gone over @ 82 mph and the car felt fine. After getting her slowed down the smell vanished and the car ran and stopped just fine like she had for the @ 5 weeks that I've owned her. She has just over 48K miles. I am the third owner; her first was a Chevy mechanic who supposedly redid her brakes at @ 32K miles. He did not turn the rotors but replaced them I was told...no paperwork to prove this. At any rate the car has performed flawlessly before and since these two high speed bursts, but something is wrong and I really don't have a clue. Any ideas would be appreciated..TIA. DFO
