Default new hood

The hood on my 88 is toast. It has 2 holes in it. Where can i get a replacement? I dont want to spend the $1500 on a stock factory one. Is there someplace i can get one for around $500 or less??

Try eBay or Craig's list. There was one here in San Diego recently off eBay that the guy had a hard time selling for $250.00, it did finally sell though. I would have bought it but I already have a 10 x 20 storage unit full of cars (disasembled) & parts, and just didn't have room for it. But their out there and if you bide your time, you'll find one. Try to get it local, cause the shipping will eat your lunch on one of these!

The two holes in your hood, where are the holes and what is the size of the holes and are they repairable?

Yeah, like huge wholes? Fibreglass is fairly easy to patch. It'll take some time to blend and get smooth though.

There are two vendors on the forum who offer used
parts. As mentioned, depending on where you are, they
might be able to help.
From time to time, members part out cars in the C4 Parts for Sale
section of the forum.

If you do decide to buy new, Melrose offers hoods with stock,
2-3/4" and 4" scoops. Toledo Pro is another possibility.

Discussed in this thread: New hood

jojo88C4, Are there any marine shops in your area? They will be able
to suggest who does hull repairs and you can follow up to see whether
patching is an option.

the holes are pretty big. One is maybe 1 sq foot and the other maybe 8x6 inches. I dont think the big one is repairable. As for why the holes are there. The engine caught fire and the fire dept. smashed a hole in it with an axe Anyways, Im looking for a carbed 350 and it will be ready to go. I just want to get the hood fixed soon.

Sounds like they saved the majority of the car.
If so, my vote is to buy the boys a round of their favorite
beverage, I think there usually is not too much left of C4's
after a fire.

Doesn't hurt to see an expert for an estimate, but my lay opinion
is in agreement with yours.

Hope you find a satisfactory solution.
