Default wheel question.. er verification

Im sure this has been asked before but Im just asking with my own personalized question!

These wheel spacers/adapters

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Wheel...mZ290024596421

work with this motegi wheel

http://www.tiretrends.com/wheel_cata...currencyCode--

to fit on a 95 corvette correct? Im a noob to spacing though so Im not sure about all the offset complications.. would an 17/18 inch stick out past the fender with the spacer?

The link you provided to the wheels only shows a 7 to 7.5" rim width. That's way too narrow for a Vette.

The offset listed is smaller than the OEM 56mm so those wheels by themselves will stick out too far as they are. An adapter would only make it worse.

so then what would be the minimum recommended width? 8.5? does one inch really make a lot of difference?

what about something like 18x8?

The other thing I noticed is, they don't list the Corvette bolt pattern as an option, either....

thats why I had the spacer, it allows for adaptation to any bolt pattern.

Don't know if rear wheels/tires will stick out, but to answer one question, yes, 1" does make a difference. Your car came with a minimum 8.5" front wheel (if Z51, it might've been 9.5" up front).

As to spacers, some may have good luck with them. However, many people that I know who've used them are not so lucky. If it was me, I wouldn't use them.

Find a wheel and bolt pattern that fits your car, is my recommendation, no matter how good the other wheels may look. Then find tires that do the same, fit the car and wheel. I believe you will be much more comfortable and happy with the results.

well basically the only other wheels that fit on vettes... are other year vette wheels...and that really isnt what Im going for lol

Whats wrong.. or unlucky, or what have you, with the spacers? what kind of problems do they cause?

The GM/Corvette bolt pattern is listed; its 5 on 4.75" (120.6mm) So the adapters would work on the Corvette hub but the studs on the adapter would still have to meet the wheel bolt pattern.

Notice in the pic of the adapter there is a recess for the lug that holds the adapter to the hub. If the wheels you are looking at do not have recesses in the wheel mounting flange and the studs sit out beyond the end of the adapter, that could mean that the wheel will not sit flush against the adapter. Some adapters come with acorn-style lugs and those are usually the ones that have problems with aftermarket wheels. Cutting down the stud on the car's hubs is not an option.

There are a number of wheel manufacturers that offer wheels for Corvette fitments. HRE, OZ, American Racing, CRAY and others. All expensive but they are very high quality wheels.

Wheel width does make a difference when you are using the proper size tires for the car. The use of narrower tires will not help handling and putting the power of the engine to the road. Even using factory sizes on narrow rims can cause the sidewall to be "bent" when mounted and that can generate a lot of heat and excessive sidewall flexing

The Corvette engineers went to great lengths to come up with the proper tire and wheel sizes. Going smaller can prove to be dangerous.

well no worries I have no intention of going smaller. But as far as the wheels made to fit corvettes are concerned, ive been having an incredibly difficult time finding them. They may be out there, they are just a pain in the a$$ to find.

ok then.. ive given up on the whole spacer idea, Ill take your guys' word that they are trouble.

Now ive set my sights on the black C6 MS

http://www.tirerack.com/servlet/Call...=&showRear=yes

I know the offset, bolt pattern, and other size issues are all good. They are a guaranteed fit. So NOW my question is, what size wheel do my stock tires fit on? stock are 17 front 18 rear right?

Basically what I would like is to upgrade to 18 front and back, but does that mean I am gonna need new tires? I had some width questions too, but thats not quite as important.. according to tire rack the back wheel has a 10.5 option, does that stick out from the fender? It looks like the front is a max of 9.5, and its 8.5 now right?
