Default 396 tune

Hi all

i have nearly tuned in my 396, it consists aof AFR 210 heads, single plane EFI, 234/238 .565 112LSA cam, headers, 58mm TB

i had lean backfire at the beginning, but i managed to tune it out via VE tables and the "delta" values..(Accel Enrich vs........)

the car runs wonderful in upper rpm regions, say about 2500rpms up, but i have some low throttle/part throttle issues...

eg. when crusing at 40mph with 4th it doesnt run really smooth, it bogs a bit from time to time..nothing bad, but a bit annoying

can you help me, where to look at?

thank you

Look at where the problem at cruise (rpm and kpa) is in your datalog. Look at the kpa vs/rpm on the lower ve table, you will probably have to lower the values in that area for 4th(approx.30-40 or lower kpa range I would guess). Same would apply for other areas in closed loop below 2k.

by lowering the values, you mean leaning out the mixture?

yes, depending on the BLM number. From what you state it sounds rich.

Have you tried different timing in that area?

on open loop tune would be much easier to get right. you have a pretty hefty cam and might give you problems tuning.. i had the same problems with mine and fooled with it for a month with little luck, not saying it cant be done. that said, try to force open loop and tune the ve tables with a wideband. always works for me.

i have a bin for you if you want to try it. timnig made need to be tweeked for you motor but the tables may be close. for a mini ram 383 zzx cam.
