Default Line lock help

I have tried searching and really haven't found that much C4 related so.. Looking to get the kit. Where is the best place? How much should I be looking to spend. I checked on Ebay and there were some on there for $70-100.00 Are these any good? Is there a write up on the install anywhere for the C4? Pics would be nice to if anyone has them of where they mounted the switched, etc!

I use Hurst Roll Control # 174 5000.

Mojo has some pics I believe. I'm sure he'll see this thread and chime in.

I got mine off ebay as well.

Yep.

The Hurst Roll control is the way to go. I initially got a B&M line loc and had nothing but problems. I sent it back and got the HURST and it works great. Jegs part # is 530-174-500 for $99. I also got the installation kit part # 530-567-1510 for $27.99. It has all the lines and fittings. If you have a flare tool and line and fittings dont worry about the install kit. If not it helps.

Heres how I did mine on my 1990.

I am using the Biondi unit from Summit, they have been installed for 2 years with no problem.

Going with the sleeper look, I have my line locks located on the lower frame where they can only be seen from under the car. In addition, I have a 2-step that I engage at the line with the line locks. My button is removable and I attach it to my steering wheel only when I race.

Check out pics:

I've been using a Jegs line-lock kit for a couple of years, without a problem.

So the install kit has the extra line needed to install it. So the $99 is basically just the solenoid, switch, etc.

Pics of how and where you mounted the switches??

I was planning on doing line locks also, but i was wondering what ideas you all have for placement of the button inside. My vette is a weekend fun car for the most part, but i do plan on taking her to the super chevy fest next year at route 66 in IL, so I kinda need a good spot that isnt noticable while out having fun, but easy enough to access at the track.Thanks...

I have the button mounted on the shifter, the solenoid is next to the master cylinder on my automatic and on my six speed, I mounted it to the frame.

PIcs aren't that great, but you get the idea.

Mine are the Hurst Roll Control.

Skateparkdave: There are a bunch on Ebay that are Hurst, did you get yours from there? They are alot cheaper on there. I don't believe I'm going to get the install kit, My buddy and I are going to tackle it( he has the line, flare, etc)

85vet: Just looking back at this thread I saw that you posted, this past weekend I was at PittsburghRaceway and no that I think of it saw you run couple times. Pretty good times!! I got some of them on tape. I came down to look at your car but didn't see you around. I think you were parked near another vette that was gold! Who was "king of the street"? I think your first run was 11.40@118

Nah, I didn't even think to look on ebay. I just got it from Jegs hence the part #'s I gave. I should have looked there. Doh!

I sort of temporarily mounted the button that came with the b&m kit and it has remained. I forgot to unwire it and send it back with their faulty line lock solenoid. Ooops! I intend to put the smaller button that came with the Hurst kit in some day. It's just sort of on the way back burner for now. The b&m button works and suits me for now. Here's where I temp mounted it in my 90 and I have grown to like it's conveinence at my hip without having to reach but I am not crazy about the look.

Yes, sorry we missed, I was having some engine issues and running about .2 slower than I should have. I was with Corkvette1, he has a bast@rd 355 running 11.2's.
Mark Brewer won, the Black mustang took it.
I was looking at your setup - nice times for the 219. The best I ever got was 12.40's with the 219 and SR and that was at E-town. I was accused of sandbagging, and at that time I didn't even know what it meant.
Perhaps we will meet at Pgh raceway another time.

Got a Hurst one off of Ebay last night for $92.49 shipped. I think the shop was AlanticSpeed. I really hope I don't have any issues since I got it on there, I'm always kinda of skeptical when getting something online specially Ebay. Should be here in up to 6days and then when my buddy and I don't have conflicting schedules we plan on tackling it.

Thankx for all the help guyz!

I saw a C5 w/ a button at the end of a coiled wire.
It reminded me of the coiled electric guitar cords that used to be used in the 60's and 70's.... Or the coiled cord of a land line phone's handset. It was not mounted on the dash or anything.

I used the TCI solenoid. No probs, does the job. I also bought the summit installation kit, but nothing in it worked for me.
I spliced into the car's line and added the appropiate fittings I got from a hydraulics shop.

I use the cruise control device switch.
Since I don't use cruise it makes for a simple and invisable switch.

I use the "ON" switch to active.
Then I hold the button at the end of the stick to hold and let go to release.

See you at Super Chevy.!!!

Did the install last night, wasn't too bad just time consuming. Everything went well, mounted the switch for now on the tilt wheel lever. The way the button was from the kit it just slid down over the lever. I like it there, functional, kinda hidden. Can post some pics if anyone wants to see. Mounted the solenoid on the wheel well. Just used an exisiting hole/bolt.

I haven't used it yet, spend today cleaning the car and taking some pics. I did check to make sure it worked but didn't burn them. Next nice day going to put the OEM tires back on and melt them off!
