Default th400 into c4, advice

my 700r4, is on it's last set of legs, and i'm sure that after the weekend of the 23rd when i plan to go to the strip, the tranny is going to go.

my current tranny is on it's last set of legs. i was going to get a gear vendors overdrive but i decided not to. I have a th400 with 4inch tail shaft that's been built to the hilt. i absolutely don't want another 700 r 4, i am on my third and don't want to continue buying more. the second tranny was a tci, and the current one is from art carr.

does anybody sell an adapter for the c-beam to make it a bolt in deal?

what is the best way to do it?

i'm guessing that the motor right now is making in the neighborhood of 450 ponies at the flywheel. with juice it will probably be hitting 600. the th400 i have right now is built to handle about 800, what stall would you guys recommend with a 354 gear ratio in the back. all my mods are listed on my profile.

I wish I had some info for this swap. I don't though. Turbo 350 swaps have been done a few times, but I have not seen a turbo400 in there

I've never heard of an adapter to make it directly bolt-in, theres a couple links off my 700r4 page on my site to a bit of information, but thats about all I know.

I know you are disgusted with the 700r4, but what failed? I am just curious. I have been very fortunate with these transmissions at the power level you describe. I am taking as many notes as possible as to what failures are occurring. Inquiring minds want to know

With that HP you shouldn't even have a second though about droping the hammer.
Raptor is working on the adaptor. The casting is not coming out right .
They were going to have a piece to convert by last may but not sucessful yet.
They changed to a different company to make the conversions last mth.
Raptor trans says they are hoping for the adaptor by the end of October.
I would call them and see I have called them every week since January.
Sorry almost forgot http://www.the-transmission-center.com/.
I blow the 2nd gear sprag.Takes off fine and when I shift to 2nd gear the trans goes 1st and 2nd.
In my other 700r4's I blew the 3-4 as usual.
I put out a for real 700 hp at the motor.
The trans I have ni now is a Monster trans out of Florida, don't waste your time they give you the same lies as everyone else, and don't stand behind it .I have a reverse valve body and though I could get rid of the
3-4 burn out ,wrong now 1-2 blows. These 700 transes are for a Honda car.Don't put another buck in it.If you want I do have the down load to install a 4L80E here some wear let me know?Pics and info.
I just looked found it here ya go.

I use a 3500 stall with my 700R junk trans.

i plan on going to a turbo in the near future, so i'll be needing a tranny that will take the abuse. i have a lot of mechnical skills and do most of my own work, but i don't fabricate. a bolt in deal adapter will suit me the best.

OK.
I've posted this a few times.

I've done the T400 swap WITH a custom Tailshaft housing that bolts into the C beam.

Not pretty.

I've blown up 7 (seven) 700R4's
I'm pushing about 600HP at the motor/ 550 lbs torque at the wheels
More on the juice.

Anyway. I had a custom tailshaft housing made.
I took both housings to a tool and Die friend of mine.

Made a tailshaft housing out of a block of aircraft aluminum.

All the internals of a 400 with the length and EXTERNALS of a 700R4 tailshaft housing. Bolts right up to the c beam.

The T350 sounds like it would have been easier but I wanted a trans that I could live with up to 1200 HP.

My cost was $1700.00 for the piece
That included blue prints and CNC machine programming.
Design and time on the phone with GM for bushing specs.
My buddy LOST money on this by the way.

i just called the trannsmission center, they said their adapter will be available in about a month and will be a bolt in deal. roughly about 700 big ones.

another alternative is posibbly to use this part:
http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...+115&y=12&x=27

this will only work on a th350, and i will have to somehow make it fit the c-beam.
