Default Electrical problems when starting

Guys I could sure use some advice on this one its got me completely confused. I have a 93 coupe, lt-1, AT, and 51000 on the odo. Starts up just fine, not throwing codes. However when I put it into reverse or drive and step on the gas the Tach bounces and the information center lights all come on. It also surges and The problem has gotten so bad that it has died on me multiple times just as Im pulling out of the driveway. After getting going though it seems to go away. Only once while driving did I notice the problem. Is this possible Opti or something much simpler? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

William

What about maintenance?

Has the car received a full tune up?

To me, it sounds like a worn out cap/rotor, and dead ACDelco Platinum plugs.

Does it rev fine in Park before you put it in gear?

Sorry should have provided more info. It has had a complete tune up done. New delco plugs msd wires, seafoam treatment. I also replaced the IAC. The vehicle idles fine and starts up like a champ. It only happens when I put the vehicle into gear and begin to give it gas. Lately the problem has gotten worse and it has stalled on me a couple of times. Once I do get her going down the road the problem seems to go away. I am completely baffled on this one guys. Any help is very much appreciated.

If it revs fine in P/N it's probably not the opti.

When it clears up after driving, is this related to coolant temperature?

My 95 with 50,000 miles did something like this the other day. This is the only time it happened. I hardly ever drive it and decided to go for a drive to the store. On the way back at operating temps I decided to give it some extra throttle (about 75%) and all of a sudden the tach started jumping all around and most of the lights on the DIC lit up (for about 2-3 sec until I let out). It didn't do anything mechanically as far as missing or stalling. I let out and it went back to normal. Then I went WOT and it wouldn't repeat. I have drove the car about 200 miles since then and nothing. I'm guessing it was a glitch in the PCM??? Your case doesn't sound like a opti problem.

Find a good auto electric shop and get a diagnostic check. Doesn't cost much and will save you time and $$$
