Went to use my jack on my 91 vert for the 1st time. The nut was corroded and the whole assembly fell. It was filthy. The courtesy light was on I noticed. I put the whole assembly back together by pushing up without loosening the stuck nut by pushing the "tee" up and over the holder above. The light was out - where is the switch for this light? A small piece of metal about two inches by 1/2 inch fell out, twisted. Unable to determine where it goes. How would you put a full size spare back in there??
Where is it located? I have a '96, have had the spare out of the storage, looked for a light, but did not see it. Although, now I know how it is supposed to turn on == with the interior lights.
That makes sense. I closed my car door and my glove box to save the battery. To the other post - yes - I have a light to help with the spare tire. It shines down and you can see your work. It is underneath, in the middle, on the backside of the bumper. Boy I'm relieved twice. My light does and still does work, and my spare tire assembly is back in place. Boy, when that fell I thought it was never going back up. Thanks all!!
All C4's have a light back there right next to the bolt that is used to lower the spare tire carrier. It's not too bright, but usually the lens is dirty.
The light operates off the interior light circuit so if the bulb is OK, you should see a glow of light on the ground under the license plate with a door open at night.
Interesting, must just be certain year cars or an option, I just looked for one on my 93 and it isn't there. I checked the owners manual and FSM and neither one of them mentions such a light on a 93!
