anyone else have this autoclimate control panel problem?
I turn on the auto climate to about 68'. Later , I push the button "off" and the auto climate won't go off. I push the other airflow buttons and they work .Turn on the defrost,no prob.. It won't switch off though. Also, the fan speed control won't always come off the automatic (green light stays on above it,even though I push the fan speed button.) And, it doesn't always happen! Maybe it's something I am doing wrong, but I don't recall having this problem in my '90.

That was quick.
I searched "climate" and found 5 threads Most seem to deal with the blower motor. I think an option is trying the diagnostics as per the threads and then disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes.
Any specific info from you or other members would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem with mine on my 93, I tried to disconnect to battery to allow the computer to re-synch. itself, negative results. I took the unit out twice and clean the electrical connection with contact cleaner. It work for one night when my wife and myself went out to dinner, but the problem reappeared. Call a Chevy dealer here in town and they want $220  for a new unit and since it was electronic device it had a limited warranty. I check with a corvette salvage shop in New Orlean found one for $ 75 out of a 96. And they told me if it did not work just bring it back and they will exchange it. Problem solve

I have the same problem. It has been occuring for the last two years on my 94, but I find that after a while, it works again, so I haven't fixed it, as the only real fix is a new controll panell ($$$). If someone knows a way to fix it other than that I would be very interested.
Re: anyone else have this autoclimate control panel problem? (cough)
I have a 96 and have a similar problem in that when I press the OFF button the compressor continues to run. This week I ordered a new controller from The Last Detail for $120.00 plus a core charge of $20. All controllers are rebuilts as they no longer make them new at factory. Remove a few screws around the arm rest and dash. Am told the controller simply plugs in sort of like a radio would do. This seems to be an inherent problem in C4's; poor design from the factory and poor quality from the manufacturer of the controllers. Fichtner Chevy wanted $140 plus $25 for a core charge. And of course it was also a "rebuilt" unit. Bite the bullet and do it yourself, otherwise it will cost you about $300 extra to have it done at the vette shop.
