Upgrading Alternator

My car came with the 124 amp alternator. If and when I replace it can I use the 140 amp, and if so are any other mods required?

why? Are you going to be installing a killer stereo?

AFAIK, the alternators have built in voltage regs, so there should not be any issue at all.

No other mods required, but is it worth it for another 16 amps, when you have probably never have used (and never will) the 124 amps the present unit is capable of producing?

FWIW,

I use the 144 amp. no issues.

That would have been my next question, is there any advantage to the bigger alternator? Asked and answered - thanks.
