Where is the lateral accelerometer in my C4?!

Where is the lateral accelerometer in my C4?!
Hi,
Where is this thing located and how do I reqocnize it? My Haynes manual doesn't display the actual location or appearance.
I am still getting the codes that indicate LA fault and i would like to check if it is serviceable in any way before I order a new one.

It is used by the ABS/ASR (also known as the EBCM) computer to modify the ABS and/or Traction Control response when cornering.

"On my '92, it is located underneath the radio in the center of the dash."
It is in the same place on my 86 also.

As a side note, it is my understanding that the later "Active Handling" packages use a "yaw" sensor that is more sophisticated and has more sophisticated electronics. So, I don't think the lateral accelerometer and the yaw sensor are the same thing.

on my '94 it was located behind the underside dash panel about where your right knee would be..
interestingly tho, i took mine out of the car and i don't get any codes..
the wire was broken to it when i bought the car and i pulled it out thinking it was part of an old alarm system or something.. later found a picture of it in my helm's manual.. never did put it back in tho.. no codes.. wonder if this is why my asr is so sensitive going around turns, leaving from a stop? ah well, with the 383 it's become routine to shut off asr as soon as the car starts anyhow!

That's weird. I think the ABS should not work without it, I mean when the thing is faulty I get Service ABS -light and the ABS is turned off.
I have verified this by braking hard when the light is on - no ABS. A safety feature I believe.
Anyway a winter (lots of water and snow + ice) is coming and I need my ABS back soon.
Oh, yes what did the thing look like? Black or gray cigarret box or something?
