dang it. bought an opti unit from autozone and installed it in April '06. It is already failing. What is a better solution than putting in another opti. I dont know much about Dynaspark, MSD, Delteq. What's the best fix, which way should I go? Thanks, AC

I plan on buying the Dynaspark in Jan due to thier reputation.
I figure by then my 92 will be close to 100k and due for the waterpump/opti/timingchain/plugs/wires.
Unless it was a new GM, your first mistake was buying it from Autozone.
I agree. If youre going to buy a stock opti get a new one, not reman. I say go for the Dynaspark. It been around longer and has a great track record compared to the new kids on the block. Thier customer service is great also.

Track record and customer service remain to be seen since the product changed to a new company only a few months ago. In fact they had some major customer service dropped-***** during the transition.

I didnt have any problems during that transition but I heard about it. Other than that it's still the same product so why would track record be a issue? Ive also delt with them on seperate ocassions and customer service was great so imho it's not remained to be seen, it's been seen by me and that's why I recomend them. You reccomend going with a MSD because it's cheaper. Ive seen alot issues with them in thier short time. Ill stick with Dynaspark until something steps up and proves to be better.
I have a brand new MSD Opti that only saw 5 hours of operation till my timing chain broke on my heads and cam project. I then decided to build a fresh shortblock and go with a double roller in which case I bought the later style MSD unit. It even still has 10 months warranty on it.
No. The delteq is just like the LTCC kit in that it uses the optical portion of the opti for knowledge of when to fire, but uses external coils for firing the plugs. The delteq uses 4 coils, and is a waste spark system, where as the LTCC uses 8 coils, the LSx coils.
A LTCC kit would also be a option. It, like the delteq, would be another option, if the optical portion of the opti is still working.
