how hard of a swap is it? has anyone here done it?my 91 does not have a maf sensor (if it does i have not found it) so can i remove the tpi and install one of those fancy al. intakes with a 4 bbl throttle body , put the rails on adapt the tps and go?i am new to this fi stuff so bear with me. some of you guys have said the tpi does not make big hp, and it appears the mpfi will. is this a good idea or a dream?

Like this?
I converted my crossfire, used megasquirt to do it.
No offense, but I've got to agree with Bogus. If you're still lookin' for the MAF sensor on your car (and no '91s do not have them) you might want to start off with something a little simpler.
i did not say i was stupid.....lol but when i changed my water pump i obviously had to take air hose off. i did not see a maf sensor. then one of my friends said a tpi had to have one, guess not.will a mini ram clear the hood? this is my first vette.i have already seen that the stealth ram will not.i feel confident in my mechanical abilities for the swap ,just a little technically behind on fuel injection and computer systems.the race cars i have fooled with the pas 15 yrs all had carbs. i do not want a carb on my vette . for street ability and dependability , fuel injection is the way to go!
MAF sensors are used on 85-89 and 94-96.
90-93 uses a MAP sensor which measures air pressure changes to monitor fuel delivery, its called a Speed Density system.
HSR is the only aftermarket intake for corvettes that doesnt clear the hood. Miniram and SuperRam both clear fine. Miniram clears with tons of room to spare.

Trying to install a Megasquirt or DFI system will totally cause your brain to melt if you are a bit behind, technically, in regards to EFI theory.
From a wrench turning aspect, it's not all that hard, they are about the same, but from the theoretical/tuning aspect, forget about it... it ain't easy and it ain't pretty.
The MiniRam is the best bet, really. The SuperRam is nice, and if you are in an emissions area, the way to go, but it can be a pain in the *** to seal up (this is why I suggest used, it's cheaper and usually bugged out). The miniram is smaller, and simplier.
The upside to all of this is that you won't have to mess with tuning it much... and then, a mail order chip should suffice.

100% agree. I have a friend that helped me install the Megasquirt and DFI Gen 7+ on my vette both the of these system take him about 12+ hours to get it running. So many that little BS here there and I must say, you better be good with electronic/electrical stuffs or will be at lost. Of course this is was his first time doing the install, obviously will take longer to do the install.
thanks guys i really appriciate the info.the fi stuff is long term , but i will post on here when i do it., and the technical stuff you guys know is a great help...i saved vaders page to my favorites!
