I found a sn89 kit for sale for about 750 bucks, this includes all but the accessories for the intercooler. How old is this model? How good is it, what do you guys think about it? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT
The SN "89" designation I believe refers to the impeller and other internal updating that was made on the SN series. This probably was built anywhere between 1989 and 1992, at which time the SN-92 was made available. As far as the rebuild kit, the prices start at around $450.00 including new races and bearings and planetary ***** if the unit nees to be rebuilt (it sounds like it may from the description of the input shaft). Otherwise, I think the SN series are nice blowers (naturally). The main drawback is the limited impeller speed (advertised at a maximum of 39,000) which, in turn, limits high rpm performance and boost levels attainable. This is one reason that these blower designs are alright to still run on the restrictive L-98 intake which usually limits useable rpm to 5400 and below, unless you want to run higher boost levels (like me!). Anything more than 8 psi and you'll be asking for problems with this design. Also, to get 8 psi, you probably should purchase an oil cooler as the unit will definitely want to bake itself at that rpm level. With 8 psi, you will need to get the water injection unless you plan on REALLY backing off the timing. The basic injection kit (without contolling ECM) is around $395.00 from Greg. I couldn't see much of the system, but check valves and such can be purchased as well. Plus, I know of a set of instructions that you can use to get it on the car!

Yeah, one thing about ebay is you never know what your gonna get! I sent the seller a bunch of questions but it seems like he might not know what he has himself.
The one thing that concerned me when checking out the system, was that the functional unit was disassembled. They need to be reassembled using the proper pre-loads on the bearing, and you would want to at least get new seals when putting it back together.
