Default My first c4 1984 idle problem

Hi i have a quirck with a 1984 it will start right up and idle but just a tade riugh. But when it reaches operating temp it will not idle to save its life it will restart right up and run but as long as its at operating temp it will not idle and stall. but as soon as it cools down it idles fine. Just a tade rough. Thanks for taking your time to help. I have 2 c3 that i seem to understand alot more. Thanks agian I put a new 02 in checked for vacum leaks none. When it stalls it will restart right away. And run fine just as long as i keep it ubove 800 rpm. Thanks agian

When it reaches operating temperature it starts relying on sensors for AFR. I'd first check the O2 sensor. They're really cheap. Get the Bosch one. If the O2 sensor's ok, I'd check for Vac. leaks. When the car switches to leaner AFRs vac. leaks will mess with the idle a lot. Last resort would be the IAC motors, but I don't think that's your problem.

The crossfire forum is a great place with lots of friendly folks who know these cars inside and out.

You might also consider cleaning the pintle on the IAC motor.

Congrats on the "new" C4.....I've had my 84 for about 10 years now, still loads of fun.
