Default Injectors: Replace or Rebuild?

My '88 injectors are pretty tired. I was going to replace them, but I briefly read about having the originals redone. Just yesterday I was speaking with a man who restores Vettes and he said that if he could have them redone, he would. I am fairly new to that idea, so I just want the forums input on the advantages and disadvantages to this. I plan on eventually having just a bit more power than stock, so I want to be prepared for that. Thanks in advance!

Replace. The coils are still old and are not replaced by a reconditoning process; if the injector is sticking open slightly, they can't even tell. Plus, humid climates really ruin injectors.

Speak to someone in the know about your options.
Most will recommend Rich at www.cruzinperformance.com
Then determine if you want to service yours or buy a new set. I chose to have the injectors in my '85 service because the injectors for that year are excellent, and I didn't want to deal with the problems inherent to installing aftermarkets.

Some threads, which recommend replacing or servicing.

If I had to do it over again, I would probably have the injectors serviced. I have a 86 that I installed 24lb injectors in and also bought a AFPR to decrease the fuel pressure a bit and am still running rich. Next for me is to have a chip tune mainly for the injectors. You will need to do a little research before doing anything. If you replace, try and match the flow rate of the injectors you have now, unless you plan on adding 100+ hp in mods.

If those are Multecs, you have no choice but replacement. They are unserviceable.

You'd be best off with Ford 24s, and an AFPR.

'89 went to Multec. How do you know the injectors are tired? Also of course they can tell if the injector is sticking open. Talk to Rich about having them serviced if they are having a problem.

I used the 'ol broom stick to the ear method. Injector cleaner didn't do much, and one is leaking fuel. I know that may mean the washer is bad, but if I'm gonna take the intake off for that, I might as well service or replace the Injectors

I was able to tell I had leaking injectors by taking a look at my spark plugs... Since you have an L98- that is a pretty easy job.

Fuel pressure guage, ohm meter, and sparkplugs. These are what I use to find bad injectors. Also visualy checking the injectors still attached to the rail and pressurized looking for leaks.

Default injectors

find a low time motor in the junk yard. buy the injectors, have them flow matched and cleaned and tested.
I did that.
use yours for replacing leakers.
they can flow match yours, and the set u buy, so you know what they are. my 86 has 127,000, and it still runs good, and the set I got had 45,000 miles.
haven't had to change any yet, and it's been 39,000 miles since I did it
