I read an article in a September edition of 'Vette' magazine about a bench tested single turboed L98.
Apparently the cam may have been non stock, but even so it was producing 500hp, 600ft/1b tq at the crank, with 8-9psi - normal cr..
That's impressive, and the set up looked fairly straight forward, even utilizing standard exhaust.. I didn't see a price approximation for this sort of package, anyone??
oh, and any -ve's to this.....i.e will engine pop in 100 miles!!

A coupla things in this article are open for discussion.
1. The base engine was not stock. 332 HP is almost 100hp over stock. That alone is impressive enough and how this gain was produced is not described other than long tubes.
2. The engine was only run on a dyno (so far). Driveability with the FAST Xfi has yet to be determined.
3. How many pieces of equipment still need to be removed or relocated to accomodate the kit? Wheres the intercooler gonna fit?
My point is a good turbo kit should offer the least in mods and reduction in creature comforts. Can't someone copycat the Callaway kit?
I am glad that engine wasn't stock... with that kinda output, I would expect the stock bottom end to last about 30 minutes on an engine dyno... the exact lifespan of the turbo L98 that GM turned over to Callaway to finish...

1. I s easy Long tubes and a good set of heads and tunnel work.
2. Fingers crossed
3. I wanna see that too.
The Callaway is very hard to duplicate its frame is not similiar to a standard C4 frame. The piping runs through it! But that would be the cats ****.
I have a single turbo on my 85. The engine guts are stock. It runs 8-9 psi. I have been running it that way for about a year and a half with no problems. It does not come close to 500hp or 600 ft/lbs torque. It is 361 hp and 497 torque.
Just curious...how much are the Callaway cars selling for? I saw several at Carlisle a few years back and I was wishing one of them was mine.
...on the cheaper end of the spectrum, 1987's can go for as little as low-mid 20's (with miles) and recently, there have been some in the 65k+ range, sold. (1991 Aero)
