By just a quick glance at mine while working on other problems, looks like it is held onto studs through the pulley by the nuts, typicall of other water GM water pumps I have repalced. I was going to just put the nuts back on and shim with washers if need be.

Is it held on by bolts instead? Could they be shimmed with washers?

Mine had studs into the water pump flange, so I used channel locks to remove the studs and install the water pump pulley with bolts and lockwashers, sans "frisbee" of course.

Just took mine off, it is held on by nuts to studs that screw into the water pump shaft. Looks like a couple of mine reach the end of the threads on the stud, so I will be adding lock washers to make up the difference.

Last week while replacing the radiator I was looking at the all mighty frisbee and it took about 10 minutes to remove it,left belt on,removed 4 nuts, took frisbee off(that thing is heavy)replaced frisbee area with washer and lock washer5,put nut back on and was done, do feel like the motor catches rpm a little quicker when not in gear.
