i was reading a thread about a guy named Steve, who said
My old combo ran a n/a best of 12.02@112 with stock programming.
It also used a qt of oil ever 4-500 miles.
It made 309 hp and 395 ft lbs at the rear wheels
im in the process of finishing my rebuild and im making exactly this kind of power and i thought i would run like a low 13's with my 86 but if he said low 12 is this possible with my car.
(does anyone know what i would run 0-60 in)
We need more info on your car. Although I'd admit, like the other poster stated, that it doesn't seem like enough power to run those numbers, however L98s can be made to get off the line pretty quickly which can yield pretty good ETs with less power than you'd think. My L98 is typically in the mid to high 12s with about 270 rwhp, but has seen a best of 12.49 in great weather. My car doesn't see very high MPH in the quarter though (105-108 or so) due to the power, but since the car gets off the line well ( high 1.6x to low 1.7x 60') it can turn pretty decent ETs. So if your lays down about 40 rwhp more than mine I'd say itspossible you could see low 12s in great weather.
everything besides the engine is stock, but i plan to add nitrous(only about a 75 shot becouse of the hyper pistons)so hopfully one day i can see a high 11's
It is possible. It was me.
60' for that 12.02 run was 1.575 ish.
The other possibility is that the dynojet dyno read wrong. It was brand new that weekend for the carlisle show.
Torque got it done.
If your motor does make that number to the rear wheels for torque it may surprise you how well it does in the quarter. Have you had it dyno'd or are you just basing it off of what the builder or mods claim? Regardless, more important will be your weight and traction and if your car is loaded down compared to the one in the thread you were reading or takes that newly added power and just spins, you will end up not much faster than before. A good set of drag radials or street slicks would serve you well. I wouldn't leave home without them.
Thanks,
One thing for sure, I am not a dyno guy. I care more about the price of eggs in China that I do rwhp numbers. I dyno'd mine for the novelty of it.
I am sure that my combo(whatever the numbers are) ran 12.02 and 10.97 w/ spray.
