strange problem I can crank it and it will run but misses if I cut it off and crank it back sometimes the ASR off light and service ASR light will be on!
I just put new plugs in it and O2's in both sides the opti was replaced last year by the dealer along with the water pump plugs and wires I dont think its bad I am sure its possible that I may have got a bad plug from the auto parts store but i dont understand the ASR problems all the sudden I have a snap on scanner and it says no codes present ok to drive
I have more faith in this Forum than I would the Dealer I hope you guys will chime in and help me figure this out.
I did get it to throw a code:48 mass air failure I took it apart and cleaned
it not sure it really helped. I took it off the car and it ran the same what does that mean? should I just replace it? I also cleaned the grounds by the oil filer nothing I have done today has helped I thank you for the inquiry though I may end up just selling it if I dont have any luck I hate to
just throw money at it till I get it right.
How bad of a miss is this?
Can you drive the car?
I had a problem that felt like I had crossed my plug wires. The car was missing a shaking. I also had a MAF code. turned out I cracked the porcelain on one of my plugs and it was sparking outside the engine.
You said you just put new plugs in it. Just a thought that you may have cracked a plug but not as badly as I did. Turn the lights out and run your engine. Look under the hood for a light show. If you see sparks you found the problem. wiggle each plug wire too if you don't see anything.
I will try that. I didnt think I cracked one but anything is possible.
I didnt think it would even run with the mass air unplugged!
Yeah, that part is strange but I've heard it before.
Could be a MAF relay. Good news is the relays are peanuts to replace compared to the MAF sensor.
I don't now much about how the MAF relays are set up in your car but in my 87 we have 2. One is a Burn off Relay. The other is the MAF power relay. They are the same so they can be switched to see if there is a problem with one of them before going to buy one.
They are cheap enough to just buy though.
Well no sparks in the dark! I couldnt find a cracked plug or an arching
plug wire I may have to start with a mass air and go from there or the relays first.

Well, it was worth a shot.
Easy to check and it would have been cheap and easy to fix.
I was hoping someone else would chime in with MAF relay information specific to your car.

Coil or ICM maybe??
My 92 just died after running real rough while coming home from work one day. Thought it was the dreaded opti, one of my buddies suggested trying to replace the coil first. I replaced the coil and voila! she is healthy and has been healthy for the last few weeks including a 600+ mile trip.
well i fixed the miss in it. I will have to start working on the mass air code
I cleaned it I dont know if that helps or not and maybe I wont get the ASR
and check engine lights again trial and error I guess Thanks for the replys
guys.

I had 2 plug wires crossed sad part is I had them labeled too!
but i am still confused about why the service ASR light came on and the check engine light also car would hardly run when these lights came on!
maybe cleaning the grounds fixed that: I will know more when I can drive it a little and see whats going on. now that the miss is gone I will let it run a while and see if I get anymore codes.

Reset the codes, you may be pleased to see that they are all gone now that your innitial problem is corrected.
As I mentioned earlier I had a MAF code too when my plug was cracked.
Replaced the plug and the MAF code went away.
