Going thru eBay and found these. Seller doent't take Paypal. Sounds kinda cheap. Opinions please. Florida has no emissions law so I can do what I want with CAT.
Dont look like it has the bung for the o2. The price is cheap for coated headers . But it dont say what size the flange is. And his feed back is not that good.
He has ALOT of bad feedback the headers look decent but I would stay away due to the amount of negative feedback unless you were local to him.
Looking at the negative feedback comments...most were because of very slow shipping and most of them were withdrawn after seller's item finally arrived or payment was settled.
Anyone with a link to a better seller that's not charging hundreds more, or should I go by the old saying...you get what you pay for.
Thanks guys. I've delt with Summit before and they are a great place to do business with. Should have checked their catalog first...get one evey couple of months. Just saw that low price on eBay and wondered if it was any good.
I bought a set of headers from this guy two years ago. He changes his username every year or so. The headers are really nice, but it took him two months to ship them to me.
There's been some discussion of Hedman headers here and the consensus, IIRC, was that the tubes and collectors are thinner steel and that the mounting flange is not always straight probably due to the welding process.
Hooker Super Comp's are the most popular choice but the cost is close to twice that of the Hedman's.
I'm going to go with header on my 87 over this winter and I will consider the Hedman's as the car is really only used for autocross and track days. I do drive it on the street some, but not like a daily driver.
Check out the prices from either Summit Racing or JEG's. Chances are that an order thru them will ship in the same day and you're dealing with companies that have a reputation of making things right if you have a problem.
I ordered a set of these....shipping did take quite a long time, and it was difficult to get him on the phone. His wife answered, but I never got a return call from him directly. The headers were fine when they arrived; they do need to have an O2 bung welded in. I sold them and bought TPIS LT's before installing them, so I don't know how well they fit.
Have a 87' and used MELROSE (supporting vendor) fit GREAT and can't beat the service on the phone . You can get them coated or not about ($200 difference)and the rest of the exhaust system too any way you want. Would recommend the Stage8 locking header bolts. The lower flanges might be a lttle tight were as the Melrose whee slip on and came withthe good full contact stainless bands for clamps. wro87

You need to find out precisely which Hedmans they are as they make several part numbers for '84-'91 Vettes. They offer coating on their standard headers (absolute junk) but their Elite series, which is a better header, all are coated. The Elites are the only ones that have the 3/8" flanges and thicker materials overall. They're still not a great header as far as bolt and plug access goes, but at least they're constructed well. Also they all have collector flanges which I don't like on these cars. As often as you have to remove the exhaust system to do various things underneath, a slip-fit collector is much easier and a time saver.
