Default Troubleshooting Headlight Motor

Does anyone know how to troubleshoot the headlight motor? I have taken apart the motor and the bushings are intact and perfect. Is there a way to diagnose if the motor has burnt out? TIA

Sure,
Put direct current to the plug from the battery. If it moves, it isn't the motor. If it doesn't, then it is the motor. Remember to hook ground to ground or nothing will happen.

Also, check your Corvette's headlight opening actuator module. It's located on the driver's side and is bolted to the outer molding of the front fender well.

Onedef, how do you go about in checking the opening actuator module?

First you need a volt meter and you need to find the power wire going into the module. Then turn the headlight switch off and on while checking the power wire and the two wires coming out of the module and going to your headlight motors. You may need to cut the plastic loom out of the way to check the wires and to trace them to the motors. When I checked mine one motor was getting power where the other one wasn't so I have to buy a new module.

The headlight motor module has one input and two separate outputs.
It has one input from the light switch and an individual output to each headlight motor.

So, if either headlight motor is functioning, you know the input is OK.
If only one headlight motor isn't working, the best way I have found to check it is to disconnect the motor wiring at the headlight and put power (12 volts) directly to the motor to see if it will operate.

My headlight actuator was bad and I know it says don't repair it, but I figured as long as I was going to replace the $160 part, I wanted to make sure that was what was wrong.

When I got it apart, there was a fried wire and a loose one. I replaced the fried wire, resoldered both and the module has been working fine for about 3 months now.

Sure beats spending $160.
