I'm getting my tranny overhauled in 95 auto. They are telling me that besides the overhaul it also need an EPC,torque converter, and the front and rear planetary solenoids. My question is wouldn't those extra parts be included in the overhaul?Or are they separate from the overhaul?

There are many levels of an overhaul. Some change no solenoids. Some change all of them. A new torque converter is always recommened, but not absolutely required in some cases. Many shops will rebuild the trans based on the basic needs and the budget of the customer. This will obviously affect a long term warrantee. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with doing busness this way. Not every customer is willing to change each and every part, and pay the max possible price. Shops know how to balance these issues. Parts plus labor is standard practice.
I have never heard of a rear planet solenoid. There are solenoids, and there is a rear planet, but they are seperate pieces. Changing planets are not "normally" done. However, if they are broken, have excessive end play, or have a blue color from overheating, they are frequently replaced for these reasons.
Unfortunately, trust in your trans guy is important. There is almost no way to prove or disprove what they claim to install. Most find a guy they trust and keep him for life.
