Anyone know if the Hooker 2149 or 2151 header work with standard angle plug heads (not vette angle)? I have a pair of Dart pro 1 heads and wonder if they'll work together. TIA
The LPEs are tight, but they do work with the NGKs (if you loosen the header) and they also work with the ACC-0416s but either way you are looking at NO fun. I hear the TPISs work well with the angle Dart Pro1s, no word on the Hookers, though I am curious to hear.
I had the Pro 1's with straight plugs and 2151's, you will for sure have to ding the tubes.
What I did was buy the header tube sections from Jegs, and then cut the offending upper tube sections out, which were # 4 and # 5, then re-welded the new tubes in with clearance to spare, then had them coated.
If you have not bought the headers yet, buy uncoated, cut them, then re-weld them, you will be very happy that you did.

They are 1 3/4" right?
The LPE's I know about. I had to find out about that the hard way. I actually just sold my LPE's and now searching for a header that will fit my app. w/ no modification. I heard the TPiS may work. Good to have that confirmed, but the Hookers will save me a couple bucks. Just need word that they'll work with my Dart Pro 1 heads.
Yeah, I have the LPEs now, which is why I also know. Let me know how the hookers go, they are cheap and as much as I like the LPEs I would like to be able to change plugs in under 30 minutes, as apposed to an hour plus because of the #6 plug...
The Hooker footnote only says they don't fit the AFR heads with the (proprietary) AFR angle not L98, or anyone else's angle. In other words, they should fit. To be sure, you may want to contact Hooker and Dart.
The Dart Pro 1s on the 89 have a couple of tight plug wires, 1 & 5 come to mind. And you'll have to use a wrench on a couple of them also.
The Chapman Victor Jrs on the 90, have no plug clearence problems, however, you will have to modify the passenger lower frame brace and the AC box for tube clearence and dimple one tube for the starter assembly bolt clearence.
I am running the Hooker 2149 with the Dart PRO-1 angle plug and do not have a plug problem. I have to use a socket with a 3/4" open end wrench at an angle to spin them in and out, but the plugs clear fine.
For reference, with the LPEs, you have to use shorty plus a 5/8 box end wrench on most (FORGET about a spark plug socket) and then the spark plug boot, even with shorty plugs, still is a fight to get the plug boot onto the plug and then it is sitting on the header....
So it sounds like the hookers will do much better if the worst is "using a socket with a wrench".
