Default "slight hesitation" before acceleration "slight"

not a problem at but I'm sure its a minor thing that can be fixed. When I go to accelerate the car or even while sitting still and hitting the gas pedal, its like there is a slight second in the time when engaging pedal till the engine revs...But its very slightly. I was told this by the chevy mechanic who was fixing my 33 code problem and I asked him if the TB needed cleaned--he said possibly. But another mechanic disagreed and said sounds like the TPS needs replaced. Chevy even checked the volts while engaging the gas pedal at "engine off" and everything check ok. So could the tps be slightly off and need replaced? And which part is that on the TB.

How's your vacuum? You could try increasing spark advance to raise the vacuum level. This should improve throttle response.

a dumb question, but how do I advance the spark ? I know nothing about that area. Not sure what my vacuum level runs either

My '94 does the same thing, I took it to a few places and no one could figure out what was causing it.

Timing and vacuum. Check the tech faq for timing tips, and you can take a look at www.harborfreight.com for a cheap timing gun and Vacuum gauge. You car should pull about 20 - 25 inches of vacuum.

Default hesitation

my 86 hesitated big time. I had a lot of vacuum leaks and the idle air control valve couldn't overcome all the extra leaked air.
after plugging the leaks, it ran a lot better.
check the cruise control checkvalve at the left side of the distributor,
check all the vacuum hoses,
check the fuel purge hoses under the left headlight,
check the cruise control hoses by the battery,
check the heater and airconditioning plastic tubing that goes through
the firewall with the computer wiring,
Check the vacuum lines that control the heater valve
check check check
not a good thing to do, but go buy a little syringe at the local drug store, put a piece of hose about 6 inches long on the end, and drip about 3 drops at the base of the fuel injectors. If the engine idle changes, the injector o-rings are leaking. be careful, and remember gas is explosive, causes burns, and is a skin irritant.
it can burn you on a hot engine, and don't do this in your garage if you have a water heater in there.

check check check

I don't normally recommend "ghetto rigging" but I've currently logged 291 miles successfully with a disconnected MAF sensor and NO more stalling, + the complete removal of my EVAP purge canister system, in my case the cause of codes 33, 34, 44, intermittent misfire, hesitation off-idle and stalling. So far, they are 100% cured and never came back. However, I DID notice that I'm also getting less gas economy than normal. Averaged 14 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the freeway, as opposed to the former 17/27 I was getting with a good MAF. The deficiency of good gas economy in my case, does not bother me, but if you did this long enough with your cats, it could potentially ruin them due to the slightly richer condition. If you did this in your state and have emissions testing, you'd definately fail, unless you run pure alcohol.

Just my $0.05. Good luck.

Try adding a container of Chevron Textron fuel injector cleaner to your tank. This will do wonders if you have some contamination in the injectors. This is not the cheapest cleaner, but it works! I do not recommend this cleaner for Vette owners with 89 thru 91 with original injectors.
